US Department of Education: Lessons from Evaluations of Professional Development for Educators
Providing professional development for teachers and principals is a common use of federal funds to improve educator effectiveness. This session will provide findings from multiple impact evaluations of professional development approaches.

Faatimah Muhammad

Faatimah Muhammad is a supervisory education program specialist for the Teachers, Leaders and Special Populations group in the Office of School Support and Accountability, Office of Elementary and Secondary Education at the U.S. Department of Education. This group consist of Title I, Part D, McKinney Vento, Title II, Part A, Title III, Part A and the provisions for Foster Care in Title I, Part A. Prior to joining the Department, she worked as an Instructional Systems Specialist for the U.S. Department of Defense Education Activity and as an Assistant Director for AVID Center, Colorado. She also held various positions in DeKalb County Schools System, Georgia.

Elizabeth Warner

Elizabeth Warner works in the National Center for Education Evaluation in the Institute of Education Sciences, which is the independent research arm of the Department of Education. Since 2002, Dr. Warner has been responsible for developing and overseeing all evaluations to inform improving teacher and leader effectiveness.
