Teachable Momentum...A Guide to Closing America's Early Reading Gap

In this session we will summarize the causes and implications of our children's failure to meet early reading standards and outline a solution for this chronic national crisis. We will share the story of one school district's journey where, in the past, over 50% of kindergarten students finished the year at risk to a system currently where 96% of students in the half-day kindergarten are benchmarked and beyond. The author of the book "Teachable Momentum...A Guide to Closing America's Early Reading Gap" will share a sneak peek of the process put into the place to help a number of school districts close the achievement gap.
