A District’s Growth in D.E.I. During the Pandemic and Beyond: Courageous Conversations
With the convergence of COVID-19 and the current events of race and racism, our school district swiftly moved to address the immediate and long-term impact of these circumstances. This interactive workshop will share strategies and action steps implemented during the 2020-2021 school year with a focus on essential ingredients of our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion plan. In addition, this workshop will include how a district can reimagine strategies and practices from lessons learned during this past year. The planning and implementation of action steps included the District’s goals to: • Embed equity practices throughout the district’s educational system. • Include equity goals and practices in the district’s comprehensive planning strategies. • Ensure performance observations encompass consideration of the expectations and goals of this policy. • Ensure every student with equitable access to high quality curriculum, support, and other educational resources.
