The Johns Hopkins University Center for Technology in Education (JHU CTE) strives to improve the quality of life of all children and youth through teaching, research and leadership in the uses of technology. Whether it is by creating leading-edge online tools, managing data or developing high quality professional development, CTE works in innovative ways to promote high quality teaching and learning. CTE represents a unique partnership that combines the research, teaching and technology resources of the Johns Hopkins University and the leadership and policy support of the Maryland State Department of Education.

BOUNDLESS LEARNING

Today’s classrooms call for educators to address students’ increasingly diverse learning needs as they help them reach high standards of achievement, use a wide range of technologies and prepare for the 21st century workplace. CTE’s Boundless Learning is designed to help general and special educators meet that challenge. It is a learning system for building positive, inclusive, 21st century learning environments that maximize achievement and performance among all learners. Boundless Learning utilizes three key dynamics to guide teachers and students as they work together within successful inclusive learning communities:

1. Principles for High Performance Teaming
2. Protocols and plans for operation
3. Technology for productivity and collaboration

Teachers apply high performance teaming principles along with protocols and technology tools during instruction while students apply them during learning activities. In general, these three interlocking dynamics occur continuously throughout instructional and learning practices. The basic premise of the Boundless Learning approach is that the more teachers and students infuse these key dynamics into their daily work, the more competent they will be in creating and maximizing learning opportunities.
