The View from Washington: Federal Updates from Year One of the New Administration.

This session will cover the overall dialogue among policymakers in Washington, DC, and will give specific updates on policy and appropriations legislation, regulations, guidance, and other actions that impact federal education programs. Attendees will hear details about the implementation of the Every Student Succeeds Act and proposals within the Administration and Congress to change the law. The session will also discuss potential funding of various federal programs and how funding levels could continue to shift over the course of the current Congressional term and the remainder of the Presidential term. Finally, attendees will learn about overall patterns of guidance and enforcement that shape how federal programs are carried out, as well as the responsibilities of program administrators.
