The Human Side of Rapid School Improvement

Saturday February 10, 2018
10:00 - 11:30 AM
Room 126

As researchers, decision makers and practitioners focus on continuous improvement, local level change continues to gain importance. Yet, many local improvements fail to be fully implemented. Even more fail to sustain in systems facing multiple challenges. Can decision makers and implementers come together to build a better approach to local change? What might happen if improvement efforts combined a powerful framework for improvement with a committed focus to the human side? This session is designed to explore how Leading by Convening, a blueprint for authentic engagement developed by 50 national organizations and adopted by the National Center for Systemic Improvement (NCSI), supports the four domains of rapid school improvement developed by the National Center for School Turnaround at WestEd. State and local leaders who first explored of these frameworks at the 2017 Title 1 Conference worked together to develop the recommendations for practice presented in this workshop.
