Caryl Pierson, a secondary math teacher of students with a wide range of math backgrounds and language deficiencies, was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of MN. She wrote the Minneapolis Public Schools' Benchmark Tests that identified the most discriminating objectives for struggling students and developed strategies to meet their needs.
