During this presentation, the presenter will share recent research and findings by the Vera Institute on the impact that family engagement can have on positive youth outcomes for youth in secure settings. New requirements pertaining to family members being effective decision-makers in their child's education while in secure settings found in ESSA will be shared and discussed from a practical viewpoint. Two significant NDTAC resources will be shared with the audience that focus on family engagement along with the recommended strategies for both facility staff and family members to heighten the level of interaction and engagement. There will be time set aside for discussion and Q&A.
