Updates from the United States Department of Education

During this session, the U.S. Department of Education will provide updates on the implementation of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESEA). This session will include an overview of the flexibilities in the ESEA for states and the options available for accountability and meaningful engagement with stakeholders.

Roberta Miceli serves as Deputy Director for the Office of State Support (OSS) in the U.S. Department of Education’s (the Department’s) Office of Elementary and Secondary Education. In this role, she leads the Department’s efforts to ensure that all States, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico implement the ESEA.  

Patrick Rooney

Patrick Rooney serves as Deputy Director for the Office of State Support (OSS) in the U.S. Department of Education’s (the Department’s) Office of Elementary and Secondary Education. In this role, he leads the Department’s efforts to ensure that all States, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico implement the ESEA.
